• “Spark: The Revolutionary New Science of Exercise and the Brain” by John Ratey, MD

  • “Go Wild: Free Your Body and Mind from the Afflictions of Civilization” by John Ratey, MD
This book ROCKED my world. In it, Dr. Ratey discusses six key skills to thrive in modern civilization: Sleep, exercise, nutrition, meditation, tribe, and nature.

  • “Mindset: The New Psychology of Success” by Carol Dweck, Ph.D.
For me, Dr. Dweck solidified “mindset” as the most powerful word in the English language. In this book, Dr. Dweck discusses her research on fixed and growth mindsets and how we can learn to move from a fixed to a growth mindset in all parts of our lives.

  • “The Pursuit of Perfect: How to Stop Chasing Perfection and Start Living a Richer, Happier Life” by Tal Ben-Shahar, Ph.D.
During our conversation on The Running Lifestyle Show (Episode 223), Tal highlighted that way happiness can give us a competitive advantage—as well as why we should fail more often.
