147: How to Use a Daily Practice to Take on New Challenges

The best way to do something is to just do it, right? This sounds so easy, but sometimes, or perhaps a lot of the time, that just isn’t the case. Artist Ori Bengal is here to talk about how he uses the mindset of comparing himself, and an inner belief that he can get better, to fuel his art career and running.

Our conversation takes an interesting turn when Ori shares that he has started painting people’s dogs, and that he is open to draw other types of pets—including bearded dragons.  The two of us take the conversation a bit sideways and discuss how cool it would be for my son’s bearded dragon, Rocco, to run Paris.  You can check out Ori’s work HERE.

One of the things Ori and I discussed was fueling. I strongly suggested he check out some TRLS episodes to “get the skinny” on long distance fueling. On episode 128 Serena Marie, RD talked about fat-adapted eating, episode 127, protein for vegetarians and vegans, and episode 122 about the timing of carbs.

Serena Marie, RD, talks about how you can jazz up your salad to get different nutrients—and to make it tastier. We share our favorite tips, and our talk makes us feel like it’s time for a salad after our chat. And of course, it wouldn’t be a TRLS episode without our Gratitude Jar segment! Serena is super grateful for her roommate (you have to hear why), and I’m grateful for my grill (there’s a whole story why it helps keep my house smelling a-OK).
