149: Gretchen Rubin and Your Habits [Part 2/2]

We continue with part two of the conversation with Gretchen Rubin. Gretchen and I dive into how our habits impact our lives without even realizing it sometimes. We talk a lot about really getting clear on what works for you and what doesn’t. Gretchen even reveals a habit that she keeps reading and hearing about that she currently just can’t start. It’s a favorite habit of mine, and you’ll hear how I try to “sell” (it sounds like this, and it wasn’t my intention, but I’m such a fan that I couldn’t help myself) her on it. You’ll hear how if she starts this habit, it might be easier to make other habits happen. Habits are formed one step at a time, which you’ll hear all about.

Melanie Curtis, team member from Team The Running Lifestyle Show Runs the Chicago and NYC Marathons for Action for Healthy Kids, updates us on what her running lifestyle looks like today.

Serena Marie, RD, discusses the importance of including copper, zinc, and manganese and her favorite foods for how to go about getting them in. Think leafy greens, such as turnip greens, spinach, Swiss chard, kale, and mustard greens, as well as asparagus and summer squash for copper. Foods that are excellent sources of zinc include oysters, red meat, and poultry. Beans and nuts are good sources as well. Foods that are excellent sources of manganese include nuts, mussels/oysters/clams, wheat germ and bran, cocoa powder and dark chocolate, roasted pumpkin seeds, and flax/sesame seeds.

On the gratitude side, Serena talks about a very special author (you may recognize her), and I talk about my favorite essential oils.

Are you looking to get a better understanding of how you’re spending your time and how that may differ from your intention? We have a special challenge coming up that could help you do less better. Click HERE, and I’ll get you on the invitation list!
