166: How to Ingeniously Set Intentions and Goals

‘Tis the season to create goals, fa la la la la, la la la la. Do you need some help with this stuff, fa la la la la, la la la la. Now it’s time to create the goals, fa la la, la la la, la la la. Hear the podcast where you find more, fa la la la la, la la la la.

There are some disheartening statistics out there that 85 percent of people who have set New Year’s resolutions have dropped their goals by the end of January. But you don’t need to be part of that statistic! Serena Marie, RD, and I discuss how to do the following:

  • Find your intentions.

  • Set intentions that can lead you to your goals.

  • Use quotes like those that led my life this year (and the quote I’m using this year).

  • Create mantras that get you moving.

  • Examine why starting at a macro level and then going down to a micro level can be helpful.

  • Join a group that could get you to your goals.

We also discuss what to keep in mind if you’ve broken your foot, what New Year slogan annoys Serena, and why.

I’ve created something called The Flourishing Experiment, which was inspired by my love of positive psychology, The Happiness Project, Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman's Search for Everything Across Italy, India and Indonesia, Positive Psychology: Self-Help Strategies for Happiness, and How to Live a Good Life. I will dedicate each month to using strength as a way to create a flourishing life—a life where I feel like I do more of the things that light me up. If you want to find out your values, go HERE. It’s free.

Speaking of groups, we’re creating a new one here at The Running Lifestyle Show. It’s going to include four weeks of working on routines and habits so that you’re off to a great start in the New Year. There will be a weekly online meeting with information shared in the beginning, along with a Q&A session. In addition, you’ll be paired up with an accountability partner to keep you motivated throughout the week. It’s $100. Please reach out to me with any questions. I’ve got answers!
