162: Running on Mindfulness

Are you feeling a bit overwhelmed right now? The holiday season is in full swing, and sometimes being in close quarters with family members or rambunctious kids can drive you nuts. So you think, RUN! If you can relate to this, then I think you’ll like today’s episode.

Hunter Clarke-Fields, Mindfulness Mama Mentor and a friend of mine, discusses how to be mindful, different ways to breathe (yes, there are different ways to breathe, who knew!), how to handle fear and anxiety through mindfulness, how to deal with someone else’s anxiety, and how to start the practice of being mindful.

Since this is The Running Lifestyle Show, we naturally (Hunter is a runner too by the way) weave in running. Of course, running affects so many parts of our lives, so it’s only natural to weave mindfulness into our running routine. You’ll also hear what Hunter’s thoughts are about what to say to yourself while you are running by yourself.

We go for a “re-run” (get it) of a two-year-old segment where Serena Marie, RD, discusses how to select chocolate. If you’re going for “first-class” chocolate, then Serena recommends a non-alkalized chocolate (that isn’t Dutch processed) whose carbs are 15 grams or less and whose majority of calories come from fat and not sugar.
