243: Make Sure Your Running Has Teeth

We haven’t really talked about pain management or your teeth on the podcast, so today is the day. Friendly note though: always talk to your doctor about your own treatment. Our Runner of the Week from last week, Dentist Foti Panagakos, and I continue our conversation, but instead of talking about running, we talk about the following topics:

  • Ibuprofen and running

  • Proxy brushes

  • The latest science on how nutrition affects your teeth

  • Fun runs in West Virginia

Serena Marie, RD, and I discuss:

  • Why you should eat 1-2 hours before a workout.

  • Pre-workout snacks should have 3 to 4 times the amount of carb to protein. Some great example snacks are a piece of gluten-free toast with edamame hummus, or a banana with 3 tablespoons of powdered peanut butter.
