324: Havening Your Way To Calm and Clarity

Dr. Kate Truitt introduces us to havening, a tool to help us stay calm and gain clarity. Dr. Kate is a neuroscientist and clinical psychologist specializing in trauma-informed treatment and care. Our conversation was recorded late at night and has a very conversational, vulnerable tone; I got a lot out of it and hope you do, too.

We talked about:

  • An introduction to havening — what it is and how and when to use it

  • Two examples of my own experiences using Havening

  • Dr. Kate’s deep education and experience treating trauma

  • How using an experimental mindset opens up doors to new possibilities

  • How mine, Kate’s, and other ADHD brains are wired differently than neurotypical brains

  • What could be getting in your way of getting a good night’s rest and what you can do about it

  • What to do during a break in the day to create more energy

  • The upcoming research paper in the Journal of Psychopharmacology regarding the efficacy of havening
