336: What We Can Learn From Plants

You probably have heard of “energy vampires,” or people who suck the energy out of you. They can make you feel tired, demotivated, frustrated or perhaps all of the above.

What you may be less familiar with are “positive energizers,” often associated with the heliotropic effect seen in plants. Flowers and plants need sunlight to grow and will grow toward or facing the sun whenever they get the chance.

Research has shown a correlation between positive energizers and vitality and longevity, so this episode is all about how to become one and reap those benefits while energizing and inspiring others.

Episode highlights include:

  • How positive energizers affect those around them

  • What is “social contagion” and what to be aware of when in a group setting

  • What qualities teams have when lead by a positive energizer

  • How to motivate a group to achieve more (hint: it’s the carrot not the stick)

  • How we can flip our negative energy bias to create hope, faith, and trust

  • An empowering quote from Marianne Williamson
