157: Kathrine Switzer and The Boston Marathon

This interview was recorded on November 8 (Election Day), and you’ll hear how we thought it was going to be a historic day for the first woman ever to be elected president. We also discussed how setting goals is a step-by-step process. After the interview, I discussed how running is a way for people to come together.

She’s baaaack! Our favorite Thanksgiving guest, Kathrine Switzer, is here, and she’s back early with exciting news. First of all, find out what keywords Kathrine's dad said to her that made her want to try out for the field hockey team instead of cheerleading—and the impact it has made on the world.

You’ll find out why, at 69, Kathrine still works tirelessly for women as she uses running as a catalyst to empower women to take on challenges that they never thought were possible.

In honor of the fiftieth anniversary of when Kathrine ran with bib number 261 and was almost physically pushed off of the Boston Marathon at Mile 2, Kathrine is running Boston again. Not only is Kathrine running, but also she has invited female runners to run the Boston Marathon together. By being a part of Kathrine’s team, you have monthly online meetings with Kathrine and team members, training support, fundraising support, and more. Then, when it comes to the whole race experience, there will be multiple meet ups, including time at the Reebok store on Newbury Street, a pasta dinner the night before, a bus ride together to the starting line, and starting together as a team. You’ll also be invited to dinner and dancing after the marathon and a team breakfast the morning after the race. As a team member, you’ll receive exclusive swag from Reebok and other sponsors.

If you want a bib, apply as soon as possible, because there aren’t many left. Visit Fearless261.org for more information.
