234: Does Gratitude Make You a Better Runner?

‘Tis the season for gratitude. But did you know not only is it nice to be grateful, but also science has proven that grateful people are healthier, happier, have fewer aches and pains, and have deeper relationships? It’s true, and there are many ways to express gratitude!

On today’s short run episode, I share the following:

  • Why gratitude is related to so many health benefits

  • How you can literally turn that frown upside down through gratitude

  • When to practice gratitude

  • What gratitude practices include (writing down three good things; writing gratitude letters; making a gratitude branch; creating gratitude jars, drawings, meditations, moments, and pictures)

  • What the Book Club books are for November through February

The Runner of the Week, Cara Bradley, shares the following:

  • How running the NYC Marathon with friends from her high school relay team was one of the best experiences of her life

  • How she cried when she found out from her doctor that she could try to run again (four months post-surgery where she had screws inserted into her foot)

  • How to get into flow and stay in flow

  • How often we should move our bodies

  • What the longest time we should ever sit down before moving is (shocker alert!)

  • What her fitness routine is today, and how it keeps her fit and happy

Cara will return as a featured guest on an upcoming long run episode to discuss her book, On the Verge: Wake Up, Show Up and Shine, which is the February Book Club book.
