349: The Tool You Can Use To Feel Calm and Move Forward With Purpose

Dr. Kate Truitt is a neuroscientist and clinical psychologist here this week to introduce us to “havening,” a tool you can use to help you get calm so you can move forward with purpose and intention. With all of the turmoil going on, a lot of us are feeling scared, overwhelmed, and full of anxiety. In this episode—a timely rebroadcast of our conversation in 2021—we’ll cover how to haven our way through it.

We also talk about:

  • An introduction to havening — what it is and how and when to use it

  • Two examples of my own experiences using Havening

  • Dr. Kate’s deep education and experience treating trauma

  • How using an experimental mindset opens up doors to new possibilities

  • How mine, Kate’s, and other ADHD brains are wired differently than neurotypical brains

  • What could be getting in your way of getting a good night’s rest and what you can do about it

  • What to do during a break in the day to create more energy

Plus, I’ll share some suggestions for supporting the people of Ukraine right now.
